Film-star fever hit Macau today, when Madame Tussauds Hong Kong sent the wax likeness of revered Bollywood actor and the IIFA Brand Ambassador, Amitabh Bachchan to The Venetian(R) Macao-Resort-Hotel, to stand side-by-side the real movie-industry veteran for the first time in Asia.

At The Venetian(R) Macao-Resort-Hotel, celebrating a decade of IIFA Magic, Brand Ambassador of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA), Mr Bachchan posed with his wax double, to the delight of his frenzied fans.

Kelly Mak, Attraction Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong also presented Mr Bachchan with a guest book filled with greetings from his fans and followers collected at the figure’s temporary Hong Kong home, where it is on loan from the London attraction until August 9, 2009.

"While Bollywood movies have always been popular in India, current box- office hits such as the multi Academy Award-winner Slumdog Millionaire are increasing the genre’s popularity internationally, so we thought there was no better time than now to introduce the mega-star in this region, " said Mr Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Shanghai.

"Since Amitabh Bachchan’s figure was unveiled in Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s World Premiere section over a month ago, it has generated a great deal of excitement amongst our visitors, so today we are delighted to be able to welcome Mr Bachchan to our neighbourhood and show our appreciation in person."
