Swedish amusement park Liseberg has started to fill the pools in its new Oceana Water World ahead of the opening in summer this year.
Liseberg broke ground on the new water park in 2020. More than three years later, the water has started to flow. Via a press release, it will take around four days to fill the pools with 1.2 million litres of water.
Oceana covers a total area of around 13,600 square metres, including 4,000 square metres of outdoor space and 6,000 square metres of indoor pools.

“It’s a technically advanced and unique project that we’ve been working on for a long time, so it’s an amazing feeling to finally see the water flowing in Oceana,” said Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg.
Oceana will house 14 aquatic attractions, including four large tube slides. It will also feature a large water playground, a wave pool, a lazy river, an adventure pool for kids, a restaurant, and a cafƩ.
“With the pools now filling up in Oceana it feels ever more real that in a few months we’ll have guests swimming, playing, and riding the attractions, and the entire Liseberg destination will be complete,” said Thomas Sjƶstrand, CEO of the Liseberg anniversary project.
Liseberg’s centennial expansion
Oceana’s four tube slides are all delivered by WhiteWater, a leading waterpark manufacturer. They are as follows:
Rex ā Scandinavia’s first Master BlasterĀ waterslide is 198 metres long and offers the highest drop on any Master Blaster in the world at 13 metres.
Abyss ā Europe’s first six-person Abyss is 223 metres long with a funnel diameter of more than 22 metres.
Serpent ā Europe’s first double Constrictor/Rattler attraction offers a height of 16 metres and a length of 177 metres.
Hydra ā Europe’s first six-person Constrictor/Boomerango attraction offers a height of 28 metres and a length of 230 metres.
The Oceana water park is part of Liseberg’s major expansion project to mark its 100th anniversary last year. The Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel opened in April 2023.
