ACCIONA Cultura, a leading creator of technology-driven interactive museums, exhibits, and events, is celebrating the launch of the Grand Egyptian Museum near Cairo, which opened to the public on Saturday, 1 November.

The company's team and partners have worked closely together to bring this extraordinary project to life, delivering museographic design for the Main Atrium, the Grand Staircase, the Tutankhamun Gallery, and the Children’s Gallery: some of the museum's most significant and symbolic spaces.

Their collaborative effort sought to power a culture that works towards the future, preserving these extraordinary treasures to keep their legacy alive.

Through meticulous design and delivery, the spaces make these artefacts and stories accessible to everyone, democratising culture and generating new dialogues with future generations.

Its approach employed innovative solutions and technologies to improve the visitor experience and breathe new life into these treasures with a fresh narrative, while ensuring that the experience, content, and cultural value are accessible to all.

Universal experience

Watched over by the powerful presence of Ramses II, the Atrium welcomes visitors and acts as a gateway through time. From here, guests ascend the 64-metre Grand Staircase and embark on a journey through Ancient Egyptian history.

The Tutankhamun Gallery celebrates the young pharaoh and his enduring memory. Using 3D scanning and photogrammetry, ACCIONA Cultura has recreated the sarcophagus from the Valley of the Kings. For the first time, the full collection of over 4,000 artefacts belonging to the pharaoh is on display, restored with exceptional precision and care.

In the Children’s Gallery, a sense of curiosity and wonder invites guests to explore a 'museum within a museum' where archaeology is brought to life through interactive games, AV, and models.

Throughout these spaces, ACCIONA Cultura has combined technology, art, and emotion, delivering an engaging and educational narrative by integrating innovative technological solutions with traditional exhibition resources, such as graphics, models, reproductions, and scenographic lighting.

The museum also features accessible routes, tactile reliefs, models, and information in Braille, developed with experts to ensure a genuinely inclusive and universal experience.

This project reaffirms ACCIONA Cultura's international leadership in designing and executing highly complex museographic projects that combine heritage, innovation, and human sensitivity to bring the wonder and excitement of history within everyone’s reach.

Earlier this month, ACCIONA Cultura marked the success of ART MASTERS: A Virtual Reality Experience, which is resonating strongly with audiences across its international venues.
