New event to feature more than 5,000 animal-themed carved pumpkins

The Bronx Zoo in New York City is debuting a new Halloween experience called Pumpkin Nights this year, which includes a half-mile jack-o’-lantern trail.

Kicking off on 28 September and available until 29 October, the event will feature over 5,000 animal-themed carved pumpkins on the jack-o’-lantern trail, as well as food trucks serving festive treats, and activities such as live pumpkin carving. There will also be photo opportunities and seasonal outdoor games.

The new nighttime experience will be brought to life through pumpkin sculptures and scenes, special lighting techniques and thematic music

In addition to Pumpkin Nights, the Bronx Zoo will hold its annual Boo at the Zoo event, which returns on 30 September and runs through 29 October.

Pumpkin Nights will be held on Thursdays through Sundays at 6pm to 10pm, while Boo at the Zoo will take place on Saturdays and Sundays.

Opened in 1899, the Bronx Zoo is located on 265 acres of hardwood forest. It is the flagship park of the Wildlife Conservation Society, which manages the Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo and New York Aquarium.

In the Chicago area, guests will be required to sign a waiver before entering an interactive haunt experience called Terror Roulette.

Hersheypark is expanding its Halloween and Dark Nights events this year to offer additional days and hours, and a new haunted house and scare zone.
