Leading provider and operator of cutting-edge aquariums, Clear Reef, has extended the deadline for applications for its Social Fund for Marine Research and Conservation until 15th April 2018.

This is to ensure that news of this funding opportunity reaches as many potential beneficiaries as possible.

The Clear Reef Social Fund for Marine Research and Conservation is exclusively funded by the company’s income. Billed as 100% philanthropic, its aim is to offer financial help to local projects directly or indirectly related to marine conservation. Anyone can apply from anywhere.

Recent beneficiaries include a beach clean-up at Lake Nicaragua and a turtle protection initiative on Juan Venado Island.

Clear Reef CEO, Philippe de Lacaze, is clearly passionate about conservation. The company provides a turnkey service, advising, providing and operating live aquatic animal facilities with an emphasis on inspiring and educating visitors. According to Lacaze, this is the best way to encourage people to change aspects of their daily habits to help protect the world’s natural, and fragile, resources.

“We see all the facilities in which we are involved as a means to protect aquatic environments, aiming towards a better and more sustainable use of their resources,” he says.

The company’s social fund is a direct result of this commitment to the environment and a way to promote under-resourced conservation-in-action.
