Viacom's Viacom International Media Networks unit has revealedplans to develop aNickelodeon undersea attraction and resortin the Philippines.It will be the brand''sfirst themed resort in Southeast Asia.
The Nickelodeon undersea attraction will be part of a bigger project, Coral World Park Undersea. Styled as the world’s first undersea attraction, this400-hectare park will bein the Philippine province of Coron, Palawan. It will open in a number of phasesstarting in 2018.The Nickelodeon Undersea Attraction
The Nickelodeonarea willopen in 2020. It will comprise70 hectares for accommodation and 30 hectares for the themed attraction. It willhighlighta number of the brand's most popular characters, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dora the ExplorerandSpongeBob SquarePants.There will be an educational element to the attraction and it will advocateocean protection.Gerald Raines issenior vpglobal recreation for Viacom International Media Networks. Coral Reef Conservation

Uniquely, The Nickelodeon undersea attraction and resort will besited on and among16 smallislands. These islands arefive to 20 minutes apart by speedboat. Developerssay visitors will enjoy "a multi-island experience". They can look forward to hot springs, shipwreck diving, island hopping together withawildlifereserve. Furthermore, the project encompassthe biggestcoral reef conservation program in Asia.
Nickelodeon is growing its resort and attraction business in Asia. Just last week it announced it had broken ground on its first resort in Asia, the Nickelodeon Cultural Resort in the Chinese city of Foshan. The brand'sNickelodeon Lost Lagoon, the first Nickelodeon theme park in Asia is openat Sunway Lagoon in Malaysia.
