Rovio announces Angry Birds experiences at Sea Life venues across UK

News
SEALIFE ANGRY BIRDS Rovio

The interactive events will take place this summer

Rovio Entertainment Corporation, a Finnish mobile-first gaming company and creator of the Angry Birds brand, has partnered with Merlin Entertainments to create an educational experience featuring Angry Birds, enabling families to help protect oceans at Sea Life venues. This initiative is facilitated by IMG Licensing, the licensing agent for the Angry Birds brand.

This summer, the experience will launch in Great Yarmouth, Birmingham, Loch Lomond, Blackpool, Manchester, Brighton, and Scarborough, after several successful events in various European locations.

Edutainment with Angry Birds

The interactive event features fun Angry Birds-themed activities that educate children about marine life threats and the importance of protecting the ocean and its inhabitants. Participants follow an engaging interactive trail, gain insights into ocean conservation, and earn a certificate after completing the activities.

Sea Life Angry Birds

Safeguarding marine life plays a crucial role in collaboration, and every aspect of the activation is executed sustainably. This partnership with Sea Life represents the Angry Birds brand’s latest effort toward sustainability, reflecting its ongoing commitment to environmental initiatives through diverse channels.

As a founding member of the UN’s Playing for the Planet Alliance, Rovio commits to reducing emissions and supporting environmental initiatives, including tree planting and plastic waste reduction.

Recently, the brand partnered with earthday.org for the April 2024 “Birds Helping Birds” initiative, which raised awareness about plastic waste through in-game events and included a donation to earthday.org.

This partnership with Sea Life enables Angry Birds to further its environmental mission by focusing on aquatic life and ocean preservation at Sea Life’s UK sites, while also offering an engaging and informative experience for visitors.

The Angry Birds-themed events have already taken place in Great Yarmouth and Birmingham, and will continue at Loch Lomond from 28 June to 13th July, Blackpool from 5 to 20 July, Manchester from 25 July to 10 August, Brighton from 2 to 17 August and Scarborough from 23 August to 7 September.

Last year, Rovio joined forces with Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix to introduce a new arcade machine based on the Angry Birds franchise, available in family entertainment centres worldwide.
