The 2026 AZA Annual Conference promises to be one of the most impactful gatherings for zoo and aquarium professionals across North America. Taking place in Portland, Oregon, from September 26 to October 1, 2026, the conference will bring together thousands of leaders, educators, conservationists, veterinarians, animal care specialists, researchers, and industry partners who share a commitment to advancing wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and public engagement.
Hosted by the Oregon Zoo and held at the Oregon Convention Center, the event will feature more than 150 educational sessions, poster presentations, workshops, roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities designed to inspire collaboration and innovation across the zoological and aquarium community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore an extensive exhibit hall showcasing cutting-edge products, services, and technologies from more than 200 companies supporting the industry.
A central focus of the conference is inclusivity and community. AZA’s “All Are Welcome” initiative reinforces the organization’s commitment to creating a respectful, accessible, and welcoming environment for all participants, regardless of background, identity, or ability. The conference encourages attendees to connect, learn, and share ideas while helping strengthen the collective mission of protecting wildlife and supporting the well-being of animals in human care.
Beyond the professional development opportunities, the conference also celebrates the importance of collaboration in addressing global conservation challenges. By bringing together experts from diverse disciplines and institutions, the AZA Annual Conference serves as a platform for meaningful dialogue, knowledge exchange, and partnerships that help shape the future of zoos and aquariums worldwide.
