Barco, a technology company specialising in innovative visualisation solutions, has added three new RGB models to its QDX platform, rounding out the series as a comprehensive toolkit for themed entertainment and high-profile installations.

With options for laser phosphor or RGB and resolutions up to native 4K, the platform offers integrators and content creators a versatile solution for creating premium experiences.

Powering creativity

Following its debut at ISE 2024, the QDX three-chip platform has established itself as adaptable, future‑ready, and ideal for venues where visual performance delivers genuine storytelling value.

Recently, the platform demonstrated its capabilities during the Freedom 250 projection mapping event at the Washington Monument, where QDX played a key role in turning one of the world’s most famous landmarks into a large-scale immersive display.

The addition of RGB light-source models marks the next evolution of the platform. These capabilities provide colour performance that meets the requirements of the most ambitious creators.

Covering the Rec.2020 colour gamut, QDX RGB enables designers to display saturated colours and delicate gradients, supporting artistic expression without compromise.

The new models also set a new standard in installation freedom, supporting existing TLD+ lenses and offering an exceptional lens-shift range for RGB-native 4K projection, up to 150 per cent for ultra short throw.

This presents new possibilities for creative placements, and enables venues to integrate high-output RGB projection into complex architectures while maintaining a discreet technical footprint.

Durability is another key feature of the expanded platform.

Barco’s DuraOptix design enhances the optical path for increased durability and consistent image quality over time. This makes it ideal for themed attractions requiring reliable daily operation, supporting a stable total cost of ownership and minimising maintenance downtime.

With the addition of the QDX-N4K RGBs, the platform provides a comprehensive solution for a wide range of experiences, from immersive rides to large-scale signature shows.

Its strengths in colour quality, resolution, brightness and robustness combine to enable memorable storytelling with fewer technical limitations, empowering creators to take their ideas further.

Last month, Barco shared details of its project to power the vast visuals in CLEOPATRA, THE IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION, which is showing at Matadero Madrid until March.
