Bob Brennecke

Director of Experiences

Microsoft

Bob Brennecke, Microsoft's director of experiences, has been crucial in developing the use of immersive technology within physical entertainment venues. His leadership and innovative strategies are influencing how audiences interact with mixed reality and interactive experiences in location-based settings.

A significant accomplishment during Brennecke's leadership is the partnership between Microsoft and Merlin. This collaboration introduces Minecraft into Merlin's theme parks and entertainment venues as permanent, immersive attractions. The goal is to turn the digital Minecraft universe into real-world experiences, thereby boosting fan engagement globally.

He also worked on Minecraft: The Exhibition, an immersive travelling showcase that brings the world of Minecraft into the physical space. Created by the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in Seattle, it first opened in October 2019 and is still ongoing.

Bob Brennecke is a leading figure in transforming our engagement with the real world via technology. His work has enabled developers and storytellers to utilise immersive technology to captivate and entertain audiences in physical environments. As digital and physical experiences blend, Brennecke’s leadership becomes especially significant.
