Dubai Theme Parks Face Critical Year Ahead

The FoxNext games studio Aftershock is creating a new action-RPG video game in partnership with Marvel Entertainment.

The production is the first in-house game from Aftershock since its acquisition by FoxNext Games.

Aftershock was formed following the acquisition of Kabam by Netmarble. FoxNext acquired Aftershock in June as part of its strategy to develop industry-leading interactive experiences across a wide variety of platforms.

The new game, inspired by the Marvel Universe, is being built exclusively for mobile devices.

The game is being developed at Aftershock’s LA studio.  Aftershock comprises a team of industry veterans, creators of globally successful games at companies such as Blizzard, Riot and EA.  It is led by Amir Rahimi.

“Aftershock is creating something special and we are thrilled to finally announce this news,” says Jay Ong, Senior Vice President of Games and Innovation for Marvel Entertainment. He explains that the action-RPG game will let fans engage with their favourite Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains.  They will be able to battle players around the world in a unique gameplay experience.

“The game will be the full package: an exciting storyline, epic moments, and incredible visuals that truly bring our characters to life,” says Ong.  “It’s shaping up to be one of our biggest and boldest projects in our mobile portfolio, and we know it will exceed our fans’ expectations.”

“To team up with Marvel on our first game at FoxNext Games is a dream partnership,” says Aaron Loeb, President of Studios for FoxNext Games.

Aftershock has a series of projects in the pipeline.  These include a multiplayer mobile strategy game for James Cameron’s AVATAR franchise.  This will be developed in partnership with Lightstorm Entertainment.
