Disney has shared a first look at the home concepts for Cotino, a ‘Storyliving by Disney’ residential community in California’s Rancho Mirage.
Cotino’s home designs were created by DMB Development and architectural design firm WHA in collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering.
Before construction begins, Rancho Mirage officials will review the Cotino community’s preliminary development plan, including the housing designs and floor plans.
Cotino will feature properties including estates and condominiums. The development will offer Disney-branded entertainment, programming and activities, as well as a beach area and recreational water activities.

In addition, the neighbourhood will be home to a mixed-use district with shopping, dining and entertainment district and a beachfront hotel.
“As we prepare to enter our second century, we are developing new and exciting ways to bring the magic of Disney to people wherever they are, expanding storytelling to storyliving,” Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, said earlier this year.
“We can’t wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest.”
Disney is looking at additional locations for ‘Storyliving by Disney’ communities across the US. These new neighbourhoods will be serviced by Disney cast members.
Cotino to welcome residents 2024
“Disney Imagineers are exploring the richness of each local region to inspire the theme of ‘Storyliving by Disney’ communities,” said Michael Hundgen, executive producer for Walt Disney Imagineering.
“Distinctively designed indoor and outdoor spaces will offer residents new opportunities to explore, engage and create the next incredible chapter of their story.”
Walt Disney World has also announced an affordable housing project, setting aside nearly 80 acres of land in Central Florida. This came after Universal released the initial development plan for an affordable housing community in Orlando.
Cotino is set to welcome residents of all ages in 2024, with sales scheduled to start in early 2023.
