Plans are underway for a £375 million chocolate-themed park, located in the world's oldest operating chocolate factory in Gruyère, Switzerland.

The new tourist destination in Broc will replace the current Maison Cailler Museum, which already welcomes more than 400,000 visitors every year.

Built in and around the factory that makes Swiss chocolate Cailler, the park will immerse guests in the production of chocolate.

According to the Association of Gruyère Chocolat, the project has a budget of 400 million Swiss francs (£375m).

New attraction for chocolate lovers

The association said the park will allow "chocolate lovers from all over the world to immerse themselves in the magic of Swiss chocolate and discover the Gruyère region, whose milk has been giving Cailler its unique taste for 125 years".

During the experience, guests will learn about cocoa, its transformation into chocolate, and its combination with milk from Gruyère pastures.

The first phase of the park, which will increase the visitor attraction's surface area from 2,000 square metres to nearly 30,000 square metres, is expected to attract between 700,000 and 800,000 visitors a year.

Subject to planning permission, developers aim to open the site’s first phase by 2030.

First phase to open by 2030

With the addition of future phases and new attractions, the chocolate-themed park aims to welcome more than one million visitors annually.

Highlights will include behind-the-scenes chocolate-making inside the factory, workshops with master chocolatiers, and tasting experiences.

The park's chocolate-themed scenery will be designed by BRC Imagination Arts, a full-service strategy, design, and production company that transforms how people feel, think, and connect.

The park will also include an attraction dedicated to the Gruyère region by Jora Vision, a leading design and production company.
