National Animation Museum

Christine Farris is an immersive experience producer behind high-profile attractions for major brands and institutions. Her work has brought beloved IPs and franchises like Avatar, Titanic, Sesame Street, Game of Thrones, and the art of Hayao Miyazaki to diverse audiences through cutting-edge global exhibitions.

Farris currently serves as planning director of the National Animation Museum, a planned attraction that will be the first American museum entirely dedicated to celebrating the art and science of animation in all its forms. She is leading the museum’s strategic planning, foundational development, and partnership building.

Previously, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Farris played key roles in shaping the institution’s launch. As exhibit development manager, she collaborated with curators, designers, and multiple committees to help define the museum’s foundational exhibition strategy through a highly complex and coordinated process. She also oversaw the technical design and fabrication of the museum’s inaugural exhibition, Hayao Miyazaki.

Prior to this, at the California Science Center, Farris served as senior exhibit researcher and evaluator for the 45,000-square-foot Ecosystems wing. She has also overseen projects across museums and cultural institutions like the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of the American Latino, Alaska State Museum, Moab Museum, and the California Museum.

“In all her projects, Christine brings a consistent focus on clear narrative, visitor experience, and operational execution. She has also been a mentor and advocate for emerging museum professionals,” said one person who nominated Farris.

“Her work has directly shaped how museums engage with popular media, global audiences, and new forms of storytelling. From managing international exhibits to planning multimillion-dollar museums from the ground up, Christine is one of the most influential voices in the museum industry today.”
