Dave Wehdeking Hernández

Dave Wehdeking Hernández has more than 22 years of experience in the zoo sector, and has become an influential leader in animal welfare, zoo operations, conservation and institutional transformation across Latin America.

As manager of Cali Zoo since 2019, he leads its technical operations encompassing animal care, nutrition, health, population management, welfare, enclosure standards, safety and accreditation. His influence extends beyond the zoo through his work as an ALPZA accreditation inspector, his participation in ALPZA’s Animal Welfare Committee, and his contribution to AZA’s Wildlife Conservation Committee. Through these roles, he helps translate international standards into practical and sustainable improvements for zoos and conservation organisations around the region.
