The 2026 EAZA Annual Conference will take place in Paris, France, from 29 September to 3 October 2026. The event will be hosted in partnership with the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle and held at the Palais des Congrès d'Issy. The conference will focus on innovations and best practices in animal care, conservation programmes, biodiversity protection, education, and public engagement.
The EAZA Annual Conference is one of the most important gatherings for zoo and aquarium professionals in Europe. Organised by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), the conference brings together hundreds of experts, researchers, conservationists, educators, veterinarians, and zoo managers from across Europe and beyond. It serves as a major platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and discussion around wildlife conservation, animal welfare, education, and scientific research.
The conference is the largest annual meeting of the European zoo and aquarium community, attracting more than 600 delegates for several days of presentations, workshops, committee meetings, and networking opportunities. Join the central event for strategic planning and cooperation within the industry.
In addition to formal conference sessions, the event also includes exhibitions, poster presentations, and social activities designed to encourage collaboration between attendees. Delegates will have opportunities to visit famous Paris institutions such as the Parc Zoologique de Paris and the Grande Galerie de l’Évolution. Social events include networking receptions, zoo dinners, and a farewell cruise on the Seine River.
EAZA itself represents more than 400 zoos, aquariums, and related organisations working together to improve conservation efforts and animal welfare standards. Through the Annual Conference, members are able to exchange ideas, discuss challenges facing wildlife and conservation, and strengthen international partnerships. The conference reflects EAZA’s broader mission of supporting progressive zoos and aquariums that contribute to species conservation and public education.
The event has a long history and is hosted in different European cities each year. Previous conferences have taken place in countries including Poland, Germany, Finland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom
