The ICOM UK Conference 2025 will take place 1 – 2 May in Liverpool. This conference brings together museum professionals from around the world, with the theme this year focusing on how museums can address climate and social emergencies through regenerative practices.

Programme Highlights

Keynotes

  • Lucimara Letelier, director of RegeneraMuseu, vice chair of ICOM Sustain, Brazil, and researcher at the University of Leicester, UK, on regenerative museums and adaptive resilience.
  • Ineza Umuhoza Grace, CEO of The Green Protector, co-ordinator of the Loss and Damage Youth Coalition, and 2023 Global Citizen Prize winner, Rwanda, on hope in the face of climate change.
  • Panels on regenerative design, social justice in museums, and restoring biodiversity.

Workshops & Walking Tours

  • Sessions on sustainable collections management, climate action planning, and museum activism.
  • Guided tours of Liverpool’s cultural landmarks.

Networking & Social Events

  • Informal meet-up and networking the night before the conference.
  • Evening reception at the Museum of Liverpool

This year, the conference introduces a fully hybrid format, allowing online delegates to attend Day 1’s lectures live from anywhere globally. Day 2, however, will be exclusively for in-person participants.
