Experience Readiness Benchmark will help assess shared challenges, emerging trends and capability gaps across the experience economy

Experience UK, a not-for-profit trade association representing British businesses that create and deliver world-class visitor attractions and experiences, invites its members to take part in the new Experience Readiness Benchmark.

This complimentary diagnostic, developed in partnership with Experiential Edge, helps organisations assess their readiness for future growth.

The benchmark offers members a practical overview of their current capabilities in the areas most important to today’s experience economy, including audience engagement, customer experience, digital maturity, AI readiness, commercial growth, innovation, operational capability, compliance, and future planning.

A personalised report

The benchmark is intentionally concise, guiding members through a carefully selected set of questions to evaluate their current capabilities, priorities, and preparedness for the future.

After completion, each participant receives a personalised report outlining their overall readiness score, key strengths, areas for development, and suggested next steps.

For over 20 years, Experiential Edge has supported experience-led businesses as they launch, grow, scale, and prepare for investment or exit.

By bringing together brand, commercial strategy, customer growth, partnerships, operations, and site development with funding and exit readiness, it helps organisations strengthen performance and achieve their next phase of growth.

The benchmark is designed to support members at every stage, from launching a new concept or scaling an existing operation to growing visitor numbers, preparing for investment, exploring AI, improving commercial performance, and strengthening operational delivery.

Practical insights

Luke Miles, co-founder of Experiential Edge, says: “The sector is moving quickly. Customer expectations are changing, AI and technology are reshaping how businesses operate, and organisations are under increasing pressure to grow, prove performance and move faster.

“The Experience Readiness Benchmark gives members a practical way to understand where they are today, where the opportunities sit and what could help unlock their next stage of growth.

“Experience UK brings together many of the organisations, operators, creators and partners shaping the future of the experience economy, so this is a really exciting partnership for us. For Experiential Edge, this is about creating something genuinely useful for members while helping Experience UK build a stronger evidence base for the sector.”

With members’ consent, anonymised responses will help Experience UK understand shared challenges, emerging trends and capability gaps across the wider experience economy.

These insights may inform future white papers, member communications, sector commentary, roundtables and practical support for the network.

Ian Clappison, CEO of Experience UK, adds: “This is a practical member benefit that gives organisations across the experience economy a clear opportunity to reflect on their current capability, identify areas for development and better understand how they can prepare for future growth.

“The anonymised insight generated through the survey will also help Experience UK better understand the challenges and opportunities facing our members, supporting our work to represent the sector and provide relevant, meaningful support.”
