Brogent Technologies’ collaboration with Kodansha on Attack on Titan THE RIDE – Battle of Liberio represents a breakthrough in adapting a globally recognised anime IP into themed entertainment. By bringing the series into Fuji-Q Highland’s state-of-the-art flying theatre, Fuji Airways, the project translates the intensity, scale, and emotional depth of Attack on Titan into a fully immersive, real-world experience.

The engagement with Kodansha went beyond standard licensing. Working directly with licensors and creative supervisors, Brogent ensured the adaptation remained faithful to the original vision while pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling.

Every narrative choice, character design, and visual element was reviewed in close collaboration with Kodansha to preserve authenticity. This included motion capture of realistic movements and advanced crowd simulations to accurately portray Titan battles and collapsing cityscapes. For the first time, characters were reimagined as lifelike digital models under Kodansha’s authorisation, marking a creative milestone that brings the anime’s artistry into a new medium.

Translating the core elements of the IP into a flying theatre required careful rethinking of narrative and sensory design. Iconic features such as the Vertical Manoeuvring Equipment, towering Titans, and dramatic battles were reinterpreted into sequences optimised for large-format dome visuals and motion-based platforms. Multi-sensory effects, including wind, vibration, and environmental sound, immerse audiences in the chaos of battle, creating the visceral sensation of soaring through walls, engaging Titans midair, and fighting alongside the Survey Corps.

Innovation lies in shifting the audience from passive spectatorship to active participation. Rather than watching an episode, guests experience the story from a first-person perspective that heightens emotional impact. Key moments from the series are restructured into a cohesive 360-degree journey, allowing audiences to inhabit the world as active participants. This transformation creates a brand-new entertainment medium that sparks social media buzz, strengthens fan loyalty, and introduces the franchise to entirely new audiences.

This fourth Attack on Titan flying theatre production represents the first time Brogent’s production team has reimagined the characters as fully realised 3D models, transforming the story into a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience, and the first project authorised by Kodansha in which Brogent’s team recreated the characters as lifelike digital creations, ensuring authenticity while pioneering new creative ground.

With its massive global ACG fanbase, Attack on Titan THE RIDE – Battle of Liberio naturally generates excitement and attendance for Fuji-Q Highland, reinforcing its position as a leader in innovative attractions. For Kodansha, the project expands the franchise into themed entertainment, strengthening its cultural presence and reaching audiences beyond traditional manga and anime. For Brogent, it showcases the versatility of flying theatre technology in delivering complex, narrative-driven, IP-based experiences.

Through this project, Brogent has created a visceral, emotionally resonant attraction that transforms Attack on Titan from screen to ride. By combining authentic collaboration with Kodansha and cutting-edge immersive technologies, the project sets a new benchmark for IP-based themed entertainment and enhances the global appeal of one of the world’s most influential anime franchises.
