Garfield Ingram

Founder & Principal

MI Concept + Design

Garfield Ingram, with a career exceeding three decades, is a visionary leader influencing museum and cultural attraction design worldwide. Over 10 years ago, he and his wife Meeta founded Toronto-based MI Concept + Design from their basement.

As founder and principal, Ingram assembled a multidisciplinary team dedicated to creating immersive, story-driven environments that connect audiences to history, science, art, and culture in meaningful and memorable ways. Today, the company employs over 70 talented people, with its headquarters in West Toronto and satellite design hubs in Orlando, Florida; Mumbai, India; and Singapore.

As a new Interior Design student, Ingram built a strong foundation in spatial composition and improving user experience. Early on, he apprenticed with an architectural illustrator, mastering perspective drawing. This hands-on training in visual storytelling still influences his design today, blending creativity with practicality to realise visionary ideas in themed entertainment.

Under his leadership, the studio has developed a variety of interpretive and experiential settings, such as science centres, heritage sites, children’s museums, war museums, cultural exhibits, immersive galleries, and interactive learning areas, each crafted with attention to storytelling, emotional impact, and clear spatial arrangement.

He believes museums should engage both the emotions and the intellect. Through interactive exhibits, innovative architecture, and tactile storytelling, he continually expands the potential of museum design. His projects help institutions attract diverse visitors and enhance their experience with authenticity and creativity.

Before founding MI Concept + Design, Ingram had spent many years in the sector working on large-scale projects such as Universal Studios Dubai, Vidanta Cirque Du Soleil Theme Park, and Chimelong’s Forest Kingdom. His work bridges narrative and design, shaping how people learn, play, and connect across cultures.

He’s played a leading role in designing notable museum and cultural destinations, including the Jahili Military Museum, CR Smith Museum, Kennedy Space Center, and volunteering at Toronto's Great War Flying Museum. His projects blend immersive storytelling with educational impact, with a focus on spatial clarity and interpretive design to connect with diverse audiences.
