Dubai's Global Village has introduced a new augmented reality (AR) experience that overlays a digital elements onto the theme park's physical environments.

The Wonderverse transforms a visit to Global Village into an interactive adventure using mobile-based gamification and AR.

Guests can complete themed missions, explore pavilions and interact with attractions while collecting points and rewards, including the chance to win the grand prize of AED 30,000.

Global Village describes The Wonderverse as an immersive, gamified realm where the physical world is merged with digital elements.

Guests can experience the Wonderverse by scanning QR codes located across Global Village. From there, they are guided through a series of interactive missions.

Highlights include an AR fireworks experience, which guests can activate using their smartphone cameras and pointing them at the sky.

“Last year, we had more than 10.5 million visitors in just six months," Dubai Holding Entertainment CEO Fernando Eiroa told blooloop in a recent interview.

"That makes Global Village one of the top five most visited parks in the world. And, given we operate only half the year, probably in the top three.”
