LCI Productions, a leading multimedia show design and production company, together with IMG Events, has once again delivered an innovative, enchanted seasonal experience in the grounds of Windsor Great Park, UK.
2024 marks the third time IMG Events and LCI Productions have collaborated on a seasonal spectacular for the historical attraction, with IMG Events’ appointment of LCI Productions as its immersive trail design partner. As part of the five-year agreement between The Crown Estate and IMG Events, LCI Productions is back to provide visitors with superior production design, an engaging story, and an exceptional visual experience.

Enhanced, enchanting visitor experience
This year, new additions to Windsor Great Park Illuminated include eight-metre LED stag sculptures, a light trail with 80 enormous hanging LED rainbow orb balls, and the UK’s first showing of SIGN, a floating art installation by the renowned Light Art Collective.
Modern snow machines, Victorian lampposts, upgraded fountain and projection shows, and an elevated laser symphony show engage visitors at the Windsor Woodland Wonderland experience. Fan favourites have been reimagined with a festive touch, such as wrapped foliage, LED screens, and mirror balls.
LCI Productions has continuously improved the Windsor Great Park Illuminated’s seasonal 2.2km light trail experience. The award-winning seasonal attraction features a variety of state-of-the-art AV technologies, interactive elements, architectural lighting systems, and a captivating story that was created by LCI’s in-house team of animators, CG experts, and character and concept artists.
The trail’s design combines this unique Windsor Woodland Wonderland narrative with festive characters and interactive elements. A multisensory network of lighting, motion-activated devices, curated soundscapes, textural enhancements, and strategic food and beverage stations create 16 zones that assist visitor flow and crowd management.
LCI Productions remains committed to providing exceptional experiences as the present agreement nears completion. The company continues to enhance the route and develop its enchanted ambience by closely examining visitor feedback and applying state-of-the-art technologies.
Kathryn Stafford, senior event manager, IMG, says: “Building on the success of the previous two years and reinvigorating key zones across the trail has been paramount to enhancing the customer experience and improving visitor flow across the site. We have value-engineered new zones, added more experiences to the light trail and focused on a festive theme this year.
“We analysed feedback from last year and identified potential new areas we could bring to life, looking at different types of content design and sculptural lighting ideas. We are excited to bring some new additions to the seasonal must-see visitor attraction, including mesmerising installations from the illustrious Light Art Collective group, blending cutting-edge AV innovations with captivating storytelling.
“Sustainability remains a key principle when putting on an outdoor event. All lights, including site fixtures, were LED, we had a no plastic agreement with our food and beverage vendors and had an extensive recycling scheme in place.”
“It is a real privilege to work on this project for the third year in a row,” says Rob Paul, design director, LCI Productions. “Our team works collaboratively alongside IMG to provide innovative trail design ideas, consult on theming, ideate new characters, generate IP and bring this large experience to life. It’s a unique site that keeps us on our toes but enables us to creatively redesign and reimagine new ways of doing things.
“Our brief was to take the success of last year and enhance the guest experience further. By value-engineering new additions and reimagining the space available, we have been able to add five more zones to the trail, giving the guest more value for money on this family-friendly attraction.”
Windsor Great Park Illuminated runs until 4th January 2025.
Last year, LCI Productions announced that it would deliver a water-based projection display in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who.
