The New York Botanical Garden is opening a new light trail inspired by Tim Burton‘s The Nightmare Before Christmas in time for Halloween.
The illuminated outdoor experience, which launches on 27 September and runs through 30 November, will bring the 1993 film to life.
Across more than 8,300 square feet, there will be light installations, interactive video projections, intelligent LED lighting, and 3D printed sculptures of the film’s characters, like Jack Skellington, Sally and Zero.
Guests at the botanical garden will see scenes, songs and characters from the film during an immersive “walk of wonders”, says a press release.
The experience is created by Adventurelive, the producing team behind Broadway’s Hamilton, and LETSGO, the creative team behind Tim Burton’s Labyrinth.
“I want to make an experience that surprises people – that is both visually stunning and sonically cool. This is going to be a thrilling new way to experience both Tim Burton’s story and one of the greatest gardens on Earth,” said Jeffrey Seller, Adventurelive founder.
Iñaki Fernández, LETSGO founder, described the light trail as “a magical and unforgettable journey”.
“Visitors will be able to take the best photos they have never imagined and have an experience that they will remember for years,” he added.

Elsewhere, Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) is coming to life as a pop-up immersive experience in Los Angeles.
Located in the Bronx, the New York Botanical Garden is a living museum, educational institution and plant research and conservation organisation. The living plant collections are arranged in gardens and landscapes across the National Historic Landmark site.
Established in 1891, the 250-acre garden is the largest in any city in the United States. It boasts 50 gardens and collections of more than one million plants.
