Universal Horror Unleashed at Area15 in Las Vegas has unveiled another haunted house, this one inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at Universal Horror Unleashed is one of four haunted houses in the new year-round attraction, which opens on 14 August.
It will bring to life the 1974 horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time in a linear sequence, Universal said in a press release.
In the haunted house, guests will see iconic scenes and characters from the film, with the experience beginning in a Texan cemetery.
After this, guests will encounter an old man at the dusty gas station featured in the film’s barbecue scene, before entering the infamous home of Leatherface and his deranged family.
The experience continues in Kill Vault, one of four immersive areas at Universal Horror Unleashed.
Universal’s first year-round horror experience
Here, guests will find themselves surrounded by rusty knives and machetes, as well as eerie characters including a strange surgeon and psychotic slashers.
Kill Vault is also home to Rough Cuts, where guests can eat “chainsaw-carved” small plates as they enjoy various show moments.
Themed areas at Universal Horror Unleashed will “add another level of guest interaction with characters… where they can even hear their haunting backstories”, Universal said.
As well as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, haunted houses at Universal Horror Unleashed are themed to Universal’s classic monsters, Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer, and an original story called Scarecrow: The Reaping.
Scarecrow: The Reaping, which was unveiled last month, has been a fan-favourite haunted house in Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood.
Universal Horror Unleashed is Universal Destinations & Experiences’ first-ever year-round horror experience.
“Universal’s rich history in the creation of the horror genre drove our desire to bring a year-round horror experience to the incredible entertainment offerings in Las Vegas,” said Page Thompson, president of new ventures at Universal Destinations & Experiences, last year.
