Building Museums Symposium 2026
From 11–13 March 2026, the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM) will host the Building Museums Symposium in Baltimore, Maryland. This annual event brings together museum professionals, architects, planners, project managers and technical experts to explore the process, promise and challenges of museum building projects.
The symposium is organised around three interconnected themes: Vision, Implementation, and Sustainability (Life After Opening), with each day’s programme reflecting these topics across a wide range of project scales, budgets and museum types, including both collecting and non-collecting institutions.
Who attends?
Building Museums is designed for anyone involved in planning or delivering museum construction, renovation or expansion projects. Whether working on a small historic site, a mid-sized institution or a major new museum facility, attendees will find insights tailored to their needs.

- Deepen their understanding of planning and executing museum building projects
- Explore case studies, current trends and real-world challenges
- Engage in discussions with museum leaders, architects, planners and technical specialists
