SimEx-Iwerks
Kate Magnusson is vice president of marketing and partnerships at SimEx-Iwerks, where she has worked with the company's partners for more than 15 years. Before joining SimEx-Iwerks, Magnusson worked in sports marketing and at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
At SimEx-Iwerks, Magnusson has been involved in projects featuring major entertainment brands, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Marvel and The Simpsons. Her project history also includes the Rio Rainforest Experience at San Diego Zoo, a 4D attraction based on the animated film Rio that incorporated themed environments and interactive elements.
More recently, she has been involved in developing and promoting the company's immersive formats, including Vision 360, a 360-degree LED theatre that surrounds visitors with large-scale imagery and spatial audio. The attraction was introduced in 2025, with an initial production focused on the natural world.
In 2025, Magnusson spoke to blooloop about SimEx-Iwerks’ rebrand, its latest attractions and the company’s plans for the future, discussing its new products, including the 4D Immersion Theater and 4D Accessible Theater.
"Our goal is to deliver attractions that not only entertain but also provide unforgettable moments for our audiences that can’t be delivered at home," Magnusson told blooloop.
