The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort debuted an all-new mission featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu. The new mission highlights Disney’s use of cutting-edge technology and a unique collaboration between creative teams.

The new mission introduced new interactive elements for each crew role, technology that delivers a more responsive, cinematic experience than ever before, and a first-of-its-kind activation that connects the attraction to an all-new Star Wars adventure in Fortnite, Smugglers Gambit, which is inspired by the attraction.

The new mission aboard the attraction now uses Unreal Engine 5 for a more dynamic and immersive experience. The attraction also extends into a connected, digital adventure in Fortnite, where the experience can start at home. Guests aboard the attraction can claim post-ride rewards in Fortnite by collecting crates during their ride.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Fortnite, announced by Disney and Epic Games, marks the first time the attraction has reached beyond its physical footprint into a connected game world, with one converged entertainment ecosystem.

Building on these technical firsts for the attraction, guests on the new mission also have more control than ever before with new destinations to choose from. For the first time ever, the attraction leads to potential adventures on Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or the bustling city-planet, Coruscant.

Each decision shapes how the story unfolds, with enhanced gameplay and an original storyline. Guests work together to complete their mission as pilots, gunners and engineers. Engineers in particular take on an expanded role, including choosing the destination and calling Grogu in real time.

The new mission debuted with the premiere of the film, “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu,” a collaboration that could only be accomplished between creative teams at Disney. Walt Disney Imagineering worked with the film’s crew to leverage and adapt digital assets for the attraction.

Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run continues to be a benchmark for immersive storytelling by placing guests at the controls of the legendary Millenium Falcon. Guests become the protagonist of their own Star Wars adventure by stepping into critical crew roles, each with distinct responsibilities that directly impact the outcome of the journey.

The attraction’s dynamic gameplay responds in real time, meaning no two missions unfold the same way. Successes and mistakes alike shape the narrative, the condition of the ship, and the final score.
