The Underground speakeasy at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas is launching a new history-inspired menu.

From 24 March, the Mob Museum's speakeasy and distillery will offer new cocktails and menu items themed to the flavours and cultural influences of the Prohibition era.

Located in the museum’s basement level with a secret entrance that visitors unlock with a password, the Underground recreates the atmosphere of a 1920s speakeasy.

Guests can enjoy live jazz, authentic artefacts, and a working distillery producing award-winning moonshine.

Themed drinks on the updated menu include the Garden Party, inspired by the outdoor soirées of the 1920s, as well as Aunt Vivian, based on the children's radio programme rumoured to broadcast coded messages about Prohibition bootlegger Roy Olmstead's smuggling operation.

Daisy de San Juan is a new drink inspired by the Daisy Santiago cocktail, Preservation Punch is a tribute to the days before refrigeration was common, and Prayers to Persephone is inspired by Edna St. Vincent Millay’s 1921 poem of the same name.

As for food, new selections at the Underground include garlic knots with marinara and garlic aioli, a reference to the rising popularity of garlic in the US in the 1920s.

Also, crab cakes with Creole remoulade is new dish inspired by the canapés like crabmeat cocktails served by speakeasies in the 1920s.

The Underground’s signature drinks remain on the menu, including Giggle Water, the Bee’s Knees, and the Underground Old Fashioned.

Earlier this year, the Mob Museum opened a retail experience at Harry Reid International Airport to preview its exhibits and sell themed merchandise.

Story-driven F&B experiences and themed retail offerings are both top trends to watch in the year ahead.
