MSC Group's cruise division has unveiled plans for Sandy Cay, a new luxury private island destination set to open in the Bahamas in 2028.
Designed for MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests, Sandy Cay is located adjacent to MSC Cruises' Ocean Cay destination.
It is conceived as an "intimate complement" to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Group said in a statement. It will offer a more secluded experience.

"Sandy Cay has been carefully envisioned as a destination designed to offer a more intimate yet elevated and immersive experience," the company said.
"It remains true to the ethos that defines Ocean Cay – connecting guests to nature and the natural beauty of the ocean."
The new island is named after its pristine aragonite sands, which are among the purest and brightest in the world.
MSC Cruises expands at sea and on land
"With the addition of Sandy Cay, MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys continue to elevate their private destination offering, creating seamless connections between life on board and experiences ashore," MSC added.
As for Ocean Cay, MSC Cruises recently announced upgrades to the private island, including new F&B outlets, an adults-only beach, a dedicated family lagoon, and an extended pier to accommodate a second ship.
With 23 modern ships, MSC Cruises is the world’s third largest cruise line and the market leader in Europe. It has a strong and growing presence in North America.

MSC Cruises is expanding its World-Class fleet with the recent order of two new ships worth €3.5 billion, due to be delivered in 2030 and 2031.
With the new World Class ships – numbers 7 and 8 – MSC Cruises will offer a total of eight World Class vessels.
Explora Journeys, MSC's luxury cruise line, launched in 2023. Its fleet currently includes two ships and is expanding to six by 2028.
