American Wave Machines (AWM), a leading wave pool, surf park and wave technology company and creator of the PerfectSwell surf park brand, together with China Tourism Group (CTG), has launched Eastern Swell Dynamics.

The new joint venture will support the expansion of PerfectSwell surf pools across China, and serve as the official licensed platform for its projects in the region.

This brings together AWM’s established surf technology with CTG’s extensive tourism infrastructure, development capabilities, market access and longstanding presence across the country.

Next-generation surf park projects

Established over a century ago, CTG is a major tourism enterprise with a business network that encompasses mainland China and international markets. Its platform spans travel services, scenic destinations, hotels, duty-free retail, transport, real estate, cultural tourism, and related destination businesses.

CTG’s development of Riyue Bay Surf Resort, anchored by PerfectSwell surf technology, offers a preview of the surf-driven destination experiences this partnership seeks to scale.

Bruce McFarland, AWM founder, says: "The formation of Eastern Swell Dynamics reflects the next phase of PerfectSwell growth.

"AWM brings the surf technology, enthusiasm for the sport and surf park experience. CTG brings extraordinary regional capability, destination development experience and institutional reach. Together, we believe the joint venture is positioned to support a new generation of surf park projects."

The launch comes as PerfectSwell Surf Parks continue to establish their position as key destination anchors, hospitality drivers and next-generation recreational assets.

Through Eastern Swell Dynamics, AWM and CTG aim to develop a focused regional platform for long-term market development, localised project support and top-tier surf experiences.

Wei Li, CFO of CTG Investments, says: "Riyue Bay Surf Resort has already demonstrated the appeal of high-performance PerfectSwell surf within a destination experience developed by CTG.

"Through Eastern Swell Dynamics, we look forward to building on that success and supporting the development of new PerfectSwell surf destinations across China."

Last year, American Wave Machines (AWM) saw strong performance with two major openings, including Riyue Bay Surf Resort, and entry into new markets.
