WhiteWater, a leading manufacturer of water attractions, is changing visitors’ perception of motion, orientation, and gravity with its new water slide feature, Helix Twist.
The feature debuted as part of the Dragonfly Jet water slide at The Land of Legends in Antalya, Turkey.
Its physically twisting flume profile integrates with WhiteWater’s Master Blaster water coaster and Topspin open spiral drop in a ride sequence that brings together uphill blasts, high-banking turns, and an optical illusion within a single attraction.
Perception & motion
Whilst traditional slide features deliver height or speed, Helix Twist uses geometry to make the visitor feel like the slide is rotating around them. The flume remains still, yet its twisting profile creates a sensation of rising, falling, banking, and turning.
The ride begins with a familiar circular flume, before introducing the twisting section. As the profile changes and the ride becomes faster, the surface seems to expand, contract, and shift around the inner tube, evoking a changing sense of direction and orientation.
Helix Twist has been developed to inspire both curiosity and excitement. Its unusual geometry encourages visitors to repeat the ride as they try to understand how the movement and visual cues are created.
The twisting structure features translucent sections that let spectators see vehicles as they pass through, while its shape adds to the attraction’s overall silhouette.

Furthermore, its versatile, compact layout enables installation upstream or downstream of any 1-2-person inner tube ride. The design can also incorporate translucent fibreglass ranging from minimal coverage to fully translucent configurations, themed lighting and AquaLucent effects.

Recently, WhiteWater partnered with Carowinds amusement park in Charlotte, North Carolina, to introduce a new Super Flume experience, Rip Roarin' Falls.
The new attraction breaks three world records: the tallest log flume drop of its kind at more than 100 feet; the tallest reverse drop for a water ride or flume at 42 feet; and the tallest reverse camelback at 32 feet.
