Christie, the global visual and audio technology company, has announced that its high-performance HS Series 1DLP laser projectors, Pandoras Box Software and Widget Designer deliver engaging visual experiences at Museum HEI, the largest media art museum in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.

A pillar of Korea’s emerging Hallyu culture belt, Museum HEI is located in the Paju Tongildongsan Tourist Special Zone and features immersive, cutting-edge media art pieces. The museum is intended to guide visitors through a distinctive immersive art experience, drawing inspiration from the Finnish greeting “Hei,” which means “hello.” The current exhibition, Beautiful Moments in Life, features more than 20 media art displays that emphasise the beauty of the natural world and renowned works by European painters.

Among them are two thematic galleries, HEI Square and HEI Theater, which use more than 20 Christie 4K22-HS and D13WU2-HS laser projectors to bring creative art pieces to life with clarity and vibrancy. Christie’s trusted partners, Star Networks and Creum, both of whom bring extensive experience in delivering large-scale projection mapping projects across various applications, make this remarkable visual experience possible.

The right technology solutions

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Christie and Creum to deliver an extraordinary visual experience at Museum HEI,” says S.W. Ham, general manager of Star Networks.

“Christie’s HS Series laser projectors and Pandoras Box have provided the perfect combination of brightness, color accuracy, and versatility to bring these immersive media art installations to life. It’s exciting to see how projection technology can transform a space and create unforgettable moments for visitors, and we’re proud to be part of such an innovative project.”

Paul Lee, sales manager for Korea, Enterprise, Christie, adds: “We’re witnessing a significant rise in the popularity of immersive experiences in museums across Korea, as visitors of all ages increasingly seek engaging ways to connect with art and culture.

“Our HS Series projectors and Pandoras Box have emerged as the preferred solutions for these installations, delivering bright, colorful visuals in a compact form factor. We are proud to provide technology that enhances visitor experiences and sets new standards in digital art and entertainment.”

Bringing visuals to life

Six Christie 4K22-HS laser projectors bring the four stunning thematic displays—Flower Hill, Under the Sea, Great Fall, and Cony’s Canvas— to life in the HEI Square gallery. Brilliant, lifelike imagery immerses visitors in dynamic art, intriguing undersea vistas, and vibrant landscapes.

15 Christie D13WU2-HS laser projectors in the HEI Theatre gallery provide breathtaking visuals for the Renoir’s Moment and The Nature thematic displays, where nature and art coexist with vivid colours. Pandora’s Box Software and Widget Designer power the images in both galleries, enabling precise media and show control that guarantees guests a flawless and captivating experience.

The Christie HS Series offers a robust, reliable, and cost-effective solution for various high-use applications. Its brightness levels range from 7,600 to 23,650 lumens and resolutions include WUXGA and 4K UHD.

Setting new benchmarks in brightness, colour accuracy, energy efficiency, and compact design, the HS Series has been widely adopted in numerous visitor attractions across the country, including the National Museum of Korea, National Folk Museum of Korea, and Museum X, as well as digital media art exhibitions such as Delight Seoul, Delight Damyang, and Curious 12 Tales.

Earlier this year, Christie announced that it supplied its RGB pure laser projectors for an enormous, interactive exhibit in Curiosity Hall, a new experience at Da Vinci Science Center in Pennsylvania, US.
