Event, the experience design agency, has announced that it will be attending several museum conferences this November.
Firstly, Esteban Botero, creative director at Event, will speak at the closing session of the International Museum Construction Congress (IMCC). IMCC 2023 takes place in Antwerp, Belgium, from 5 – 7 November and Botero will join Al Yaqdhan Al Harthi, director general of The Oman Across Ages Museum and Steve Woodland, principal director of Cox Architecture on 7 November to share the story of this new national museum.
This session will take participants behind the scenes to explore how the new national museum was created and delivered and how its exhibitions and building came to be recognised as a must-see destination across the world, from the original vision and Event’s masterplan. Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said’s ancestral home, Nizwa, has become the centre of a new cultural movement because of the new museum and surrounding projects.
During the session, Al Yaqdhan Al Harthi will also be formally introducing a special edition of the IMCC which will be held next year in Oman, from 25 – 27 February 2024.

In the UK, the Museums Association Conference is scheduled for 7 – 9 November, and Event’s bid manager, Barara Acan, will be in attendance. The conference will be held at The Glasshouse (formerly the Sage Gateshead) from 7 – 9 November 2023, and will also be available online for remote attendees.
The agenda features speakers from across the globe and a wide range of sessions covering practical advice and big ideas in workshops, spotlight sessions, networking and more.
Later in the month, Botero will also be attending the BEYOND Conference, alongside Amanda Dimmock, senior content designer. BEYOND 2023 takes place at the Royal Institution in London from 21-22 November. It will bring a thought-provoking programme to an audience of world-leading researchers, makers, investors, business leaders, and thinkers.
Dimmock and Botero will speak during a session called Oman: Using Art & Tech to Tell a Nation’s Story.
Last month, Event celebrated the opening of the Elizabeth Tower tour at the Palace of Westminster. The tour, designed by Event, consists of four new spaces which provide an insight into the political, cultural and social significance of the Elizabeth Tower. This experience also offers visitors the opportunity to take a close look at the famous clock’s mechanism and bells, including Big Ben.
