Event, a global experience and exhibition design agency and Museum Studio company, has announced that three projects it has worked on have been shortlisted for this year’s Museum + Heritage Awards. These include Oman Across Ages, which is up for International Exhibition of the Year, as well as the Carl Nielsen Museum and The Book of Kells Experience at Trinity College in Dublin, both shortlisted for Best Use of Digital International.
Oman Across Ages
The new Oman Across Ages museum, shortlisted for International Exhibition of the Year, charts the story of the Sultanate of Oman from its geographic prehistory through its evolution to the Renaissance of the 1970s, to the present day, and into the future. The museum is home to an auditorium, permanent and temporary exhibition galleries, a vast garden, numerous dining venues, a comprehensive library, and the Knowledge Centre.
Oman Across Ages (pictured, top) aims to celebrate the country’s creation and inspire young Omanis to connect to its rich history. The Event team provided masterplanning, interpretative planning, exhibition and graphic design, and creative direction for the museum.
The Carl Nielsen Museum
Event worked with Odense City Museums and Copenhagen University to create an immersive visitor experience for the Carl Nielsen Museum, a new venue dedicated to one of the most influential people in Danish musical history.
Here, the firm worked on a guest experience inspired by music, divided into three movements. In the opening movement, Fyn—Copenhagen—Europe, visitors learn more about Nielsen and the place where he grew up and found inspiration. The second movement, The Composer, presents specific elements of Nielsen’s music and life, inviting visitors to engage with the cabinets, removing lids and opening doors to play music and discover stories.
Finally, in The Music, guests can fully immerse themselves in the music as they enjoy a brand-new composition made of snippets from Nielsen’s works.
The Book of Kells Experience
The firm also created a 360-degree exhibition for The Book of Kells Experience at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, designed to offer visitors an unprecedented opportunity to discover Ireland’s most significant cultural treasure.
The new experience uses light and audio to explore the story of the historical masterpiece and the internationally significant collections in Trinity College Dublin’s Old Library. This is the first exhibition of its kind to be shown in Dublin and was created by Event in partnership with multiple university departments.
Three themed chapters invite visitors to follow the Book’s incredible journey through time. The exhibition reveals 1,200 years of history, transporting visitors from 800 AD on the Scottish island of Iona, across the Irish Sea to Kells, and finally to modern-day Dublin.
The UK Parliament (Elizabeth Tower) has also been shortlisted for Restoration or Conservation Project of the Year in recognition of the architectural triumph of this ten-year restoration. Event’s contribution to this project was a new multimedia tour, exploring the history and significance of the iconic landmark.
