The BBC reports that there are plans underway for a new national gallery of modern Welsh art.

The Welsh Government is funding a feasibility study later in the year.

The National Museum Wales (NMW) and Arts Council of Wales (ACW) are taking the lead on the project which would celebrate 20th and 21st Century Welsh art.

An earlier study in 2008 established the need for a new gallery.  This led the expansion of the National Museum of Wales, where there is a substantial collection of modern and contemporary art, much of which is not exhibited due to a lack of space.
