Delegates can find the firm at booth 3A328, and can meet with Giulia Barbero and Christoph Bode. In addition, project: syntropy will be announcing a new feature of its domes powered by Alterface at the event.
Media-based attractions in Riyadh
project: syntropy produced five key attractions for the VIRTUALITY science centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which opened in 2017.
VIRTUALITY uses interactive media attractions to tell the story of information technology and communications, and is located in Riyadh’s $1.7bn cyber city development, the Information Technology Communications Complex (ITCC).
The firm’s attractions for the venue include a 16m fulldome planetarium, four-sided 3D-Stereo CAVE, interactive floor, 360° cinema, and a huge multitouch exhibit.
Immersive information visualisation
project: syntropy was commissioned by Native Solutions (AL ASILA Co.) for the ITCC to develop some of the most prominent media-based features at the new science centre. The VIRTUALITY science centre is owned by Saudi Pension Funds and presents a wide range of interactive exhibits arranged over four floors.
project: syntropy’s Core Theatre and Info Ribbon attractions can be found on the first floor. The 360° immersive virtuality Core Theatre explains the historic context of information and communication, and features 9-channel WUXGA projection, 5.1 audio, a playout and content authoring solution and domeprojection.com ProjectionTools autocalibration.
Meanwhile, the Info Ribbon is a huge, möbius-shaped multitouch exhibit with a dynamic organic interface. This attraction features 8-channel WUXGA projection, multitouch interaction based on sensors, and dedicated camera-based multitouch detection. project: syntropy programmed a seamless graphical multi-user interface which moves across the entire surface.
Science centre showpiece
On the third floor, visitors can discover project: syntropy’s immersive CAVE and its Interactive Floor installation. This level is titled Data Cloud, and explores alternative forms of information visualisation. It also features exhibits such as mechanical and cybernetic installations and interactive furniture.
The CAVE is a four-sided immersive environment at 2.1m x 2.8m. This features 8-channel 3D-Stereo projection, optical tracking, render nodes and uniview software for content production. In addition, the Interactive Floor offers a 4-channel WUXGA projection, a dedicated camera-based tracking solution and an interactive application with real-time 3D content.
The top floor features the science centre’s showpiece —the DOME. This 16m tilted 3D stereo fulldome system was developed by project: syntropy and offers an insight into the future of information and the world of the data cloud. 3D stereo projection, true 3D audio sound, and 4D seats deliver an immersive experience across a range of presentations.
The DOME features 24-channel WUXGA projection, Infitec 3D, Iosono 3D audio system, media servers, lighting, show control, domeprojection.com ProjectionTools autocalibration and planetarium shows.
Earlier this year, project: syntropy was named the winner of the 2024 Inavation Awards Visitor Attraction category for its project at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center (SUPEC), China.
