Ocean Park Hong Kong has unveiled plans for two new animal exhibits, a giant panda habitat and a marine mammal conservation centre, as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations in 2027.
The marine mammal conservation centre is due to open in January 2027, while the panda habitat is slated for completion in the third quarter of next year.
Starting with the conservation centre, the facility will feature the debut exhibition of the skeletal specimen of an Eden's whale that washed ashore in Sai Kung in 2023.
The display, which is going on view to the public for the first time, aims to raise awareness around marine ecological threats.

Additionally, the centre will showcase Ocean Park's achievements in stranding investigations and marine scientific research over the years.
It will also feature immersive and interactive installations focused on climate change and pollution.
As for the giant panda habitat, this will house Ocean Park's six giant pandas – Ying Ying, Le Le, An An, Ke Ke, Jia Jia and De De.
It will feature elevated viewing platforms that will allow the animal care and veterinary teams to closely monitor the giant pandas’ behaviour and health.
Visitors will also get the chance to observe routine medical care training carried out by the team, gaining deeper insight into animal welfare and behind-the-scenes work.

"Ocean Park has been an integral part of Hong Kong for half a century, bearing witness to our city’s charm, resilience, and the transformation and growth of generations," said Paulo Pong, chairman of the board at Ocean Park Corporation.
"We will deepen and expand Ocean Park’s role as a top international conservation and education hub, fully supporting Hong Kong in amplifying its global influence in ecological conservation and education," he added.
Earlier this year, Ocean Park opened a new conservation and breeding centre for freshwater turtles to address a critical gap in Hong Kong's wildlife protection.
