Following the presentation by Compagnie des Alpes of its annual results for the 2024/25 financial year earlier this week, the theme park and ski resort operator has now announced plans to transform Belantis in Germany into Parc Astérix Germany.
In April 2025, Compagnie des Alpes acquired the entire share capital of Event Park GmbH, which owns and operates the Belantis park in the Leipzig region, one of the largest leisure parks in eastern Germany, from Parques Reunidos.
Belantis Park is in a growing region with direct highway access from Leipzig, near Dresden, and Berlin. The site comprises more than 80 hectares of land, including a 41-hectare reserve designated for potential future development.
In agreement with Albert René Editions, Compagnie des Alpes plans to convert the existing Belantis leisure park into the first Parc Astérix outside France.
This transition will occur gradually, with the new name expected to be officially adopted around 2030 or 31. The initial section dedicated to Idéfix is scheduled to open in spring 2026.
Leveraging the site’s strengths and Compagnie des Alpes's expertise, the Group believes this park could eventually attract nearly 900,000 visitors annually.
Germany ranks second after France in Astérix comic book sales and is also the second-largest in Europe for leisure parks.
More plans for Park Astérix
Meanwhile, Compagnie des Alpes aims for the original Parc Astérix to rank among Europe's top five leisure parks by 2030, with a total investment of €250 million. Around 35% of this will be funded through leasing.
The plan includes opening a fourth 300-room hotel in 2027, adding five new attractions, and expanding with new restaurants and shops.
This plan features Cétautomatix, a family roller coaster named after the famous blacksmith, and Les Fastes du Nil, a new restaurant in the Egypt zone, both of which opened this year.
By the end of the plan, the Group aims to achieve 20% growth in Parc Astérix's overall capacity, with two-thirds of this expansion occurring indoors to minimise weather-related disruptions.
