Creative Works, the theming company and attractions provider, has developed an ocean-themed version of its popular Cosmic Golf attraction for Wilderness Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.
Creative Works has announced that it has created a new ocean-themed Cosmic Golf attraction for Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin, meeting its need for a unique and immersive attraction that all ages can enjoy.
This new partnership was born at last year’s IAAPA Expo in Orlando, as Wilderness Resort’s Attractions Manager, Trevor Hirst explains: “At IAAPA 2019, we saw Creative Works and it just stood out above everyone else and we’re like ‘Okay we need to get that here.’”
An upgraded mini-golf experience
Creative Works was able to overcome several challenges to come up with a new course, elevating the existing concept which was home to nine aquariums with live fish. One of these challenges was the lack of blueprints or plans for the resort’s previous course, meaning that planning the new dimensions was difficult.
The company’s’ Creative Consultant, Nick Salfity, took a trip up to Wisconsin to address the issue: “As soon as Trevor asked me to come visit I said ‘Sign me up!’ Site visits are such a crucial part of our sales process. Not only do they help us better understand our client’s vision, but they prevent any potential details from slipping through the cracks.”
“[Nick] took the extra time to make sure we were going to get exactly what we wanted,” adds Hirst. “We had to get it pretty much pinpointed down within an inch and it turned out pretty successful.”
Interactive fun
Wilderness also opted for Creative Works’ Electric Edging, a patented interactive technology that creates glowing edging along each hole, instead of the classic brick edging. “The Electric Edging is really what sold us on the product. Bricks are good, Electric Edging is better,” says Hirst.
There was a further challenge in that the resort has a tight deadline, wanting to have the course ready to play this autumn. Creative Works was able to cater to this need, installing the new course on time without sacrificing quality.
“They’re extremely accommodating with the COVID world that we’re living in. To have a team of people to come do the install that quickly is pretty impressive,” says Hirst.
Guests can now enjoy the new 9 hole blacklight course, which features underwater-themed props and murals, including fish, octopuses, eels, jellyfish, columns, oysters and more.
“Honestly, we were picky and we threw a lot of twists and turns at [Creative Works], and the accommodation to just say, ‘Okay, we can do that for you, we can change that,’ was the best part of it all. If I was to give it a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give it a 10,” concludes Hirst.
Earlier this year, Creative Works held the second successful virtual edition of its popular Amusement 360 Event.
