Lilidorei, world’s largest play park, to open in spring 2023 at Alnwick Garden

Lilidorei Alnwick Garden

The £15m fantasy village-style attraction will offer a magical experience.

Lilidorei, billed as the world’s largest play park, is opening in spring 2023 at the Alnwick Garden in Northumberland.

Nathan Bonk, head of play at Lilidorei, said a “world of enchantment and mystery is coming to the Alnwick Garden this spring”.

The £15 million fantasy village-style attraction will offer a magical experience with creatures including goblins, elves, dwarves and pixies.

The development is the brainchild of Jane Percy, the Duchess of Northumberland. “Lilidorei has lived in my imagination for the past 12 years and I am delighted to bring my creative vision to life,” she said (via Northumberland Gazette).

“The saddest thing is when scientists disprove theories, and we are told that the Loch Ness monster doesn’t exist or that the tooth fairy isn’t real or that Santa is make-believe.

“Lilidorei turns all this upside down. It exists and it is captivating. We cannot wait to open the doors to Lilidorei and release the magic.”

The whimsical wonderland will feature immersive sound, while zip wires, slides and climbing walls will connect each area.

As part of the Alnwick Garden charity, Lilidorei will offer ‘free Fridays’ during term time for children in Northumberland and the surrounding areas.

Elsewhere, Merlin Entertainments has unveiled its new attraction for Blackpool’s seafront. The £2.3 million Gruffalo & Friends Clubhouse is opening in May 2023.

Bringing together six stories and characters from writer Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler, the family-friendly indoor attraction will be a magical 3D world.
