Sega Amusements International, a leading provider of innovative and immersive amusements, has announced three internal promotions following a strong first year of trading under new ownership. In March 2021, CEO Paul Williams executed an MBO acquiring the rights of the global amusement company from its parent company Sega Sammy Corporation in Japan.
Now, it has announced three new appointments to the executive management, joining Williams and Sega Amusements International finance director, Siraj Elkhawad.
Trusted & long-term employees promoted
Firstly, Louise Howe, who supported Williams and advised Sega Amusements International throughout the MBO process, has been appointed to the position of general counsel and company secretary.
Justin Burke, head of the sales division and Nigel Allison, head of the production division, have both been with Sega since the late 1990s. Burke will now move into the role of sales director, while Allison takes on the position of manufacturing director.
“The MBO a year ago was a big shift for the company, especially in the midst of the global pandemic,” says Williams. “Getting through that and ending our financial year on a high was a tremendous result.
“I wanted to keep up the momentum whilst simultaneously recognising the strength of the people within the organisation who helped achieve that result and promoting people who will help shape the future of Sega Amusements International Ltd to senior executive positions. We have significant expansion plans over the next few years and I feel that the appointment of these three new roles will greatly strengthen the company’s ability to achieve our goals.”
A bright future
Howe has been with the company since 2014 and, in her role as legal counsel, she played a key part in last year’s MBO. As general counsel and company secretary, she will provide strategic advice and guidance, shaping the company as it continues to grow.
Talking about her new role, she says: “I look forward to using my experience to help the team build a great future for the business.”
Burke is a key figure in the industry and has been involved in it from an early age, working in his family’s arcade business. He says that his new position: “marks another goal in working for a company which I have loved working for almost half my lifetime. The company is in great shape on all fronts, and I am looking forward to being part of the team to realise more potential from it.”
Allison joined Sega when the company was the owner of JMP and has been responsible for the development and manufacture of products ever since. Importantly, he has been enhancing the in-house product side of the business as it became less reliant on Japanese manufacturing.
“It’s an honour to take this next step within Sega, especially at such an exciting time for the company,” says Allison. “We have a great product line up and together with a fantastic team, I believe that we are in an ideal position to deliver continued growth.”
Earlier this month, Sega Amusements International announced its new prize merchandiser, Pushing Points, a versatile new game that operates with prizes of all shapes and sizes.
