Looping Group had owned the destination since 2011. The company operates 21 leisure parks across Europe, including three in the UK.

These are West Midlands Safari Park, Drayton Manor, and now the Waterworld water park in Stoke-on-Trent, which it acquired in a multimillion-pound deal this year.

The UK attraction was sold by entrepreneur Mo Chaudry, who said the Looping Group had "made a clear commitment to investing in the park and supporting the local community", with "even more exciting developments ahead".
