Reece Davey
Architectural Historian and Content Creator
House of D'vey
Reece Davey is a London-based architect and content creator, and the mind behind House of D-vey. As a social media ambassador for V&A East, a new brand and set of venues in East London, Davey's role was to help promote the new V&A venture through self-produced social media content.
His approach and ideas for content were wholly innovative, challenging the museum to reconsider its communication methods. By blending his passion and expertise in art, design, and architecture with exceptional presentation skills and a captivating screen presence, he enabled the V&A team to connect with its target audience of 16-25-year-olds and expand V&A East's new social media channels.
Beyond his original focus on short social media posts, Davey proposed a long-form YouTube series that he would write and host. His goal was to educate a new generation of architecture and design fans about the history of modern architecture, all delivered in his distinctive style, which features pop-culture references and playful jokes.
After a highly successful pilot episode about Brutalism, he was commissioned to write and present a series of 5 episodes looking at different movements in 20th-century architecture. Ultimately, Reece won over the existing audience and helped grow subscribers. The success of this content led the museum team to launch a new YouTube channel dedicated to content in this style, with Davey consulting on the creative direction and output.
One nominator said: "As a queer creator, Reece brings a much-needed perspective to a sector that has been monocultural for many years, helping institutions like the V&A to remain relevant, attract new audiences and show its collection and programming in a completely new light."
