Genting Singapore has announced the appointment of its acting CEO, Lim Kok Thay, as chairman and director of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

Lim replaces previous chairman and CEO of Resorts World Sentosa, Tan Hee Teck, who announced his retirement in May 2025.

As RWS' chairman and director, Lim "provides leadership to the RWS board of directors and is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the RWS board in setting RWS’ strategic direction and overseeing its governance”, Genting Singapore said in a statement.

His responsibilities include providing strategic oversight of RWS' long-term objectives, major projects and sustainability priorities, and overseeing senior management performance.

The day-to-day management of the integrated resort is led by CEO of RWS, Lee Shi Ruh, who was appointed to the role in June 2025.

She was later named president and chief operating officer (COO) of Genting Singapore.

Leadership changes at RWS

Spanning 49 hectares, RWS is home to attractions including Universal Studios Singapore, the Singapore Oceanarium, Dolphin Island, and Adventure Cove Waterpark.

As part of a $5 billion expansion of Resorts World Sentosa, dubbed RWS 2.0, Universal Studios Singapore's new Minion Land opened last year.

This was followed by the launch of the Singapore Oceanarium, which is three times the size of its predecessor, the former S.E.A. Aquarium.

Lim, who started in his new role on Sunday (1 February), joined Genting Group in 1976, where he now serves as executive chairman.

Additionally, he is executive chairman of Genting Singapore and Genting Bhd, as well as deputy chairman and chief executive of Genting Malaysia.
