Great Bear Wilderness is based on a northward trek from the western United States into Canada. Along the way, guests view bison roaming the plains, bald eagle nesting, brown bears playing in a stream, polar bears swimming underwater, and Mexican grey wolves exploring their habitats. The largest exhibit ever undertaken by the Brookfield Zoo, Great Bear Wilderness is a state-of-the-art, 7.5 acre exhibit which educates about the animals’ past, present, and future status, their deep cultural significance to people, and the survival challenges they face. The project also included a retail building, restroom, restaurant, and an education facility.
