Eden is creating “a beacon for regeneration and green tourism” in Scotland

The Eden Project is preparing to submit a planning application for its new Dundee attraction with a series of new community events.

The community events will be held in person and online ahead of the submission of plans later this year. They are open to anyone interested in the Dundee site and will include information from the Eden Project team.

The upcoming events are as follows:

22 September, 1pm to 2.30pm via Zoom

4 October, 10am to 7pm at Whitfield Community Hub

6 October, 1pm to 2.30pm via Zoom

18 October, 2pm to 7.30pm at Discovery Point

7 November, 10am to 5.30pm at V&A Dundee

“We have had a fantastic summer of co-creation events in Dundee. We have met some incredible people and been bowled over by the ideas and inspiration the people of Dundee have brought to the events,” said Darren Hoare, the Eden Project’s head of programme delivery.

“Adding more dates to the calendar – including online events for those unable to come along in person – will extend the opportunity to get involved to even more people.”

Eden Project Dundee involves transforming the city’s former gasworks on East Dock Street into “a beacon for regeneration and green tourism”.

There will be exhibits, performances, educational experiences, immersive attractions, horticulture, live music, art, and F&B and retail spaces.

New Eden developments

When the plans are submitted, they will detail the building designs and visitor experience, and reveal how the development will enhance its immediate surroundings.

Eden Project Dundee is one of several new Eden sites in the UK and across the world, from Morecambe in Lancashire to Colombia’s Meta department.

This year, Eden was awarded £50 million from the government’s Levelling Up fund to build its new eco-tourism attraction in Morecambe.

Elsewhere, Cornwall’s Eden Project launched the UK’s first operational deep geothermal project to come online in 37 years. It later opened a new nature-themed play area.
