Amid a growing trend for wellness experiences, real estate development company Aldar has unveiled plans for Abu Dhabi’s first coastal wellness destination.
Located between Saadiyat Island and Yas Island, Fahid Island is a residential development but will be open to visitors, offering curated leisure and wellness experiences, as well as hotels.
Surrounded by turquoise water and lush mangrove forests, Fahid Island will also boast 4.6 kilometres of beaches and is described as a place “where entertainment and culture meet wellness”.
“Entertainment and culture meet wellness”
“Abu Dhabi is a thriving, global destination where heritage and innovation combine to create a world-class environment to live, work, and explore,” said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Aldar.
“Sustainable and inclusive development has been a critical part of this success, which is why Aldar remains focused on delivering communities that reflect the values and ambitions of the UAE.
“Fahid Island is the latest chapter in that journey – building on the success of Saadiyat and Yas Islands to offer a new benchmark in premium waterfront living, wellness, and sustainable design.”
Aldar is dedicating 35 percent of space on Fahid Island to natural areas like restorative gardens and green trails.

The mixed-use island’s 2km waterfront promenade will serve as a social hub with retail, dining and art experiences.
Talal Al Dhiyebi, group CEO of Aldar, said: “With a gross development value of over AED 40 billion ($10bn), Fahid Island is one of the largest mixed-use residential masterplans launched in Abu Dhabi and will ensure the emirate consolidates its position as one of the world’s most desirable destinations to reside, invest, and visit.”
As above, Fahid Island will join Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island and Yas Island.

Saadiyat Island is home to cultural sites including Louvre Abu Dhabi and teamLab Phenomena, and soon a natural history museum, a Guggenheim, and the Zayed National Museum.
Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island features world-class theme parks like Warner Bros. World, Ferrari World, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.
These will be joined by Disneyland Abu Dhabi, which was recently announced by Miral and Disney.
