Christie Museum X

Christie, the global visual and audio technology company, has illuminated the immersive exhibitions at Museum X. This new interactive museum combines digital media art and technology, and utilises the firm’s HS Series and Inspire Series 1DLP laser projectors

This impressive exhibition space is regarded as an “immersive new media playground” and is located in the northeastern coastal city of Sokcho, South Korea. Museum X has become a popular attraction for both locals and tourists since it launched in August. The site, which measures 1,750 square metres (18,836 square feet), is organised into four zones and 16 experiential facilities where guests may explore bright and colourful exhibits that highlight powerful themes.

SNC Alliance, Christie’s trusted collaborator, supplied 34 laser projectors, including the Christie 4K7-HS, offering 4K UHD resolution, as well as the Inspire Series DWU760-iS and DWU960-iS models. Ten Square, a local systems integrator, strategically installed them across the facility.

Dong-Woo Lee, CEO, SNC Alliance, says: “To accommodate the diverse spaces, Christie’s HS and Inspire Series projectors are chosen to ensure that visitors can experience the seamless integration of art and technology with unparalleled color reproduction without compromising image quality.

“The 4K7-HS projectors are particularly well-suited for this project, excelling in challenging, space-limited installations. Additionally, the versatile Inspire Series, with IP5X dust-resistant optical engine and whisper-quiet operation, complements the setup. Both projector models offered hassle-free set up and enhanced the art and visual colors of the exhibition with optimal features.”

Enhanced viewing experience

XORBIS has created captivating images and artworks that come alive in a variety of exhibition areas.

The Ensemble area invites guests to enter a media cocoon where their digital designs are miraculously brought to life, showcasing a captivating blend of art and artificial intelligence. Eight Christie DWU760-iS projectors provide the lighting for the artworks and enhance the viewing experience with eye-catching colours and chromatics.

The Surround zone is a hemisphere and cylindrical area that combines space and sea and stimulates a range of senses. Visitors enjoy expansive vistas of the cosmic landscape, crystal blue sea, and vibrant sunset clouds that vividly fill the space. With eight sensitively placed Christie 4K7-HS and DWU960-iS laser projectors, the total experience is elevated and guests are immersed in fantastical worlds with incredibly lifelike images of stunning skies and underwater environments.

Seated on a massive bench in the Symphony zone, visitors are enveloped in a surreal and enigmatic ambience that showcases famous urban and rural locations throughout Korea. Six distinct themes are brought to life with the help of 18 DWU760-iS laser projectors positioned overhead, creating amazing projections. These projectors transform the walls and floor to produce vivid, lifelike images that provide an incredibly immersive experience.

Paul Lee, sales manager for Korea, Enterprise, Christie, shares: “We’re thrilled that Museum X has selected our HS Series and Inspire Series projectors to illuminate its expansive exhibition spaces. This project serves as a testament to the diverse capabilities of our laser projectors, catering to a range of needs and preferences. We are confident that these professional-grade projectors will captivate visitors with awe-inspiring visuals, enhancing the overall museum experience in the years ahead.”

For continuous use, the Christie HS Series and Inspire Series offer a variety of brightness settings in WUXGA or 4K UHD resolutions. These lightweight, small projectors offer unrivalled value without sacrificing performance thanks to their omnidirectional capabilities, long-lasting laser illumination, and nearly maintenance-free operation for up to 20,000 hours.

These series, which are designed for small-to-mid-sized spaces, include optional Christie Mystique automated camera-based alignment tools and an onboard Christie Twist warping and blending engine, which make multi-projector setup and maintenance quick and simple.

Christie recently celebrated the election of Joe Graziano, director of sales, Entertainment, EMEA, as a member of the Themed Entertainment Association’s (TEA) Europe and Middle East Board of Directors.
