Cosm, a global technology company that builds end-to-end solutions for immersive experiences, has expanded its Premium Media Program, with the addition of new Cosm Studios Originals titles developed in collaboration with the firm’s acclaimed creator partners.
The Premium Media Program provides planetariums, science centres, and fulldome theatres using Digistar, with a versatile and cost-effective way to access fulldome films.
Hand-crafted experiences
Ricardo Romaneiro’s audiovisual symphony LIQUIDVERSE: Microcosm & Macrocosm and Planetary Collective’s viral hit Orbital have joined the Program’s collection of critically acclaimed and unique immersive productions.
In these new titles, Romaneiro and Guy Reid from Planetary Collective examine humanity’s link to the universe, transporting visitors on beautifully crafted voyages across the cosmos through diverse artistic interpretations.
In Orbital, astronauts’ voices lead visitors on an animated adventure through an abstract environment, inspired by bioluminescent terrestrial organisms and atmospheric aurorae. As they reach low Earth orbit audiences will experience “The Overview Effect” as they reflect on our world.
LIQUIDVERSE explores the fundamental interconnectivity of scale, from microscopic to cosmic. This title shares the story of the interconnected universe through an original spatial audio symphony with visuals that have been handcrafted using liquid oils and chemical reactions, captured on a petri dish.
Value & flexibility
To offer participants the best possible value and unmatched flexibility, Cosm will continue to add popular Cosm Studios Originals titles, such as LIQUIDVERSE and Orbital, to its Premium Media Program portfolio.
This includes almost 50 immersive shows and enables participants to expand their communities and audiences with innovative, customised, and engaging programming. The Program provides users with the ability to select four or more films from the growing catalogue, with the option to swap them for different shows each year.
The Program offers:
- Four films a year. These can be cycled annually to increase programming options in a flexible and cost-effective manner.
- Five-year term and licensing cost paid annually. Pricing is dependent on dome size/annual attendance, so participants receive optimum value.
- Educational guides. Cosm offers comprehensive teaching resources with materials for classroom based and field trip groups, and marketing assets.
- New Cosm Studios Originals content. This exclusive access enables programming beyond traditional boundaries.
Neil Carty, VP, head of Cosm Studios at Cosm, says: “Our mission at Cosm is to redefine the way the world experiences content and we’re pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling through our deep collaboration with the immersive creator community and fostering its growth.
“We’ve created a robust and growing ecosystem of immersive content that can serve both our Cosm venues and our worldwide network of science and education partners. Following an overwhelmingly positive response from this summer’s slate of showings at Cosm Los Angeles, we’re proud to extend these exclusive art and science titles beyond our venues and into the hands of our Digistar community to empower them to inspire, educate, and engage audiences in powerful new ways.”
Cosm will continue adding scientific and educational films to the Premium Media Program collection, while also introducing new and exclusive art and entertainment titles from Cosm Studios. The firm will also further expand the network of film producers who contribute to the Program’s offerings. This will develop existing collaborations with two acclaimed producers, Cosmic Picture and the American Museum of Natural History.
Earlier this year, Cosm revealed the latest version of the leading immersive planetarium software, Digistar 2025, at the International Planetarium Society (IPS) Conference. The software will be available at the end of 2024.
