Fusion LX, an audiovisual and lighting integration specialist, is celebrating its partnership with Ljusdesign, Sweden’s leading manufacturer of museum lighting fixtures, for which it is the UK distributor.
Having started in the theatre industry in the 1980s, designing and installing all aspects of theatrical lighting, Ljusdesign went on to identify a shortage of the right tools to deliver the perfect lighting solution for the museum sector. Now, the firm’s products are considered to be standard tools for exhibition lighting amongst leading lighting designers.
Ljusdesign has designed fixtures for museums that can handle different properties of light. Taking the qualities of theatre spotlights, the company has created smaller versions that are able to emphasise the storytelling within an exhibition. Using pure white LED chips allows them to achieve the highest quality of light output.
Swedish quality and sustainability
All manufacturing and production happens in Sweden, with the majority of luminaires assembled and quality controlled in-house, made mainly from local suppliers. This, therefore, makes Ljusdesign extremely self-sufficient and sustainable.
A chance encounter between Fusion LX and Ljusdesign revealed that the two companies were a perfect match. After this, Fusion was named as the UK distributor for Ljusdesign.
A Fusion LX representative says: “We love Ljusdesign, these are our turn-to lights for so many projects now. The team in Sweden are awesome and will do anything to make a project work – a mentality much like ours.”
One recent project that uses Ljusdesign’s solutions is The World of Glass in St Helens, which reopened earlier this year following a £1 million refurbishment. Here, the lighting products help to showcase the museum’s collection of thousands of glass artefacts from across the globe, some of which are up to 4,000 years old.
The company’s products can also be found at the new Rangers Museum in Glasgow, home to immersive exhibits and hands-on displays that chart the team’s journey from its humble beginnings through to the modern day.
Earlier this year, Fusion LX worked with the Science Museum in London on its new exhibition, Science Fiction: Voyage to the Edge of Imagination.
